The three rules
Rule one: breaker weight should be 5–10% of the carrier's operating weight. Rule two: the breaker's required flow must sit inside the machine's auxiliary flow range. Rule three: operating pressure must be settable on the carrier.
Ignore these and you'll either chip away slowly or fatigue the boom structure with a hammer that's too heavy.
Read the flow numbers
A CR25 mini excavator with a 40–60 L/min auxiliary circuit suits breakers in the 100–200 kg class. A CR130 with 150 L/min plus can run a 500–800 kg hammer.
When flow is the constraint, pick a hammer with the same impact energy but lower flow requirement — modern valving does more per litre.
Carrier protection
Every breaker installation needs a pressure relief setting below the carrier's maximum, plus an accumulator to smooth pressure spikes. Ask about our certified breaker kits, which include the manifold and hoses sized for each model.
